Les has built an extensive career in stonemasonry with over 30 years’ experience that started under the tutelage of Master Mason, Bill Zambo on Scot’s Church Melbourne. Les has since worked on the restoration of some of Melbourne’s finest historical buildings including St Michael’s Church and St Patrick’s Cathedral, Bourke St GPO and the Old Melbourne Gaol. Les is also specialised in Terrazzo applications for flooring, benchtops and vanities that can be precast or made in situ. Inspired by a documentary about terrazzo and excited by the design and colour possibilities offered by the time-honoured process, Les was able to pursue his passion through a coincidental meeting of a retired Italian expert who agreed to sell his trove of marble stock and machinery to Les and who was happy to answer all the technical questions over a coffee! Les pays this forward and he is always happy and willing to share his accumulated knowledge with others, actively supporting the free flow of information in all the trades.
